Need your thoughts...
So just want your thought on this.
A little background:
You have a nighttime cleaning job in an office building, you and other worker, same building every night 5 nights a week. The breakroom is typically messy and they leave old food, trash, random crap out on the tables majority of the time. Any leftover food that is out is supposed to be thrown away, but you can eat if you like (just depends on what type of food and if it still looks good lol) and thats fine with the manager of the building.
The situation:
One night at work you get to the breakroom and start gathering up all the trash. Theres a tin of chips and thats about it left on the table. You notice your coworker take a couple chips and start walking off to do other things. You lean out of the rooms and ask them "How are the chips". They have their headphones on and dont hear you, so you then ask the same quesition but louder. They then respond with "Stale".
You proceed to gather all the trash up and put the chips in there as well. Getting ready to take out that bag of trash and your coworker asks if you threw the chips away. You respond with "yes". They then start to blame you for poor communication and that you should have not have thrown the chips away because they were not done eating them.
So would YOU PERSONALLY:
1) Asked how the chips were, got the stale response, and continued cleaning everything up, including the chips, just like any normal day. Assuming that your coworker would not want anymore because they were stale.
or
2)Asked how the chips were, got the stale response, and continued cleaning everything up but leaving the chips out incase your coworker wants to come back and eat more.
or
3)Would have done something different (please explain what you would have done instead in this situation, serious responses please)

It's your job to clean up the breakroom, which includes throwing away food left on the table. You did your job, which does not include checking up on your coworks cheapness/eating habits.

Is this guy for real?! I feel bad for you if you have to work with someone like that... If he complained to me about poor communication for something like that I would kick him in the nuts and then roll him over for an arm bar FTMFW!

How I would handle this.
"Say hey man, sorry I didn't know you were gonna eat the rest of that after you said they were stale, totally my fault and I can see this happening again. But it's our job to clean the place including the break room, so from now on if you or anyone else want want the left over food, put a note but it's your responsibility to go back and clean it up."
