Question Need TV Advice...Paging Dr Gagan.

All right so I've run the searched and read all the threads and Gagan has convinced me that Plasma is the way to go. I plan on playing games on it a lot and the usually tv watching. Wasn't looking for 3D. $3K is the most I want to spend but I can be convinced otherwise.

I was looking at getting this model:

http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-e...00000000005702

Is this a good one to get? From the limited reviews I've been able to find some people say it may suffer from some floating black issues.

Thanks,

-J

I'm by no means an expert but I'd urge you to take your room size and viewing/gaming distance into consideration. I bought a 50" panasonic plasma a couple of weeks ago and I think it's almost too big for the room. That said, I bought the G20 model and the picture is outstanding after minimal tweaking.

Yeah I've been looking up ideal viewing distances for a 65" inch. A lot places say minimum is 8' with a maximum up to 16'. I sat in front of a 65" plasma at best buy the other week. I was about 8' back and it looked great. I plan on putting the TV in my living room so I will have at least 8' feet of distance for viewing. Guess I gotta check into what the return policy is at the place I buy the TV so if it's too big I can exchange it or a smaller one.

no restocking fees from BestBuy
as far as Costco TVs, they dont offer Delivery or help you load it
and there is basically no support once you take the tv home
who do you call for support after 90days?
Costco will refer you to the MFG and they will not honor the MFG warranty since Costco is a reseller NOT a Retailer. Even if they have a 2 yr warranty, its through a 3rd party Costco contracts and do you really want joe blo tv repair to fix the tv or Geeksquad?
Just my 2cents

I sat in front of a 65" tv at about 8 ft and it looked fine to me. I'll be sitting in front of different size TVs to get a feel for the size I want. Of ocurse TV viewing distance is a personal preference.

I'm looking at picking it up either at Best Buy or Amazon. Pikka thanks for the offer. I'm looking to buy the end of this month once all the remodeling at my house is done. Should have enough money left over for the TV. Is the 54" TV the only one you can give me a deal on? I'm thinking it's either going to be a 58" or 65".

Costco hires TV professionals

Geeksquad don't know jack ****.

Buy any Panasonic Plasma today, you'll be happy with it. The really good stuff are the V series from 2009. VT for 3D or G20/G25. But they are all pretty good.
