I need to have my 02 WRX tuned ASAP. I recently installed an uppipe, tbe, bov, and cai. Now I have an issue with backfiring , I suspect the bov. I have a COBB Accessport. Can anyone recommend a reliable tuner that could get me in soon. EQ Tuning cannot until April 27th. I have 2 rally crosses before that and I want my car running safely and optimally. I live in Santa Cruz so any shop in the South Bay would be fine.

get rid of the CAI and BOV

tune over you should be fine if you get rid of that.

 

even if you retune, if the BOV vents at all, you will run rich between shifts. and as sigma said +1 just get rid of them why wont do any help unless youre running a lot more power.

 

Thanks sigma pi for the recommendation. If I can't get tuned before my events I will definately do that. Funny thing is I had the exact setup on my other '02 wrx with no issues before tuning.

Thanks Heedz. That's 2 votes for removing the bov. I know what I'm doing after work now.

 

A lot of aftermarket BOVs are known to leak and have diaphragm issues, so its not something that's usually messed with until you have to. Also is a CAI the greatest idea in dirt? (depending on style of CAI of course) Seems like more protection/filtration would be what you want.

 

Thanks for all the great advice. I had no idea how negative the bov would be. My last wrx was running about 320whp, perhaps that's why I didn't have any issues with the same bov. And yes code3suby, as I get more serious with rally I will need to change the air intake. Just makes sense.

I think some of you missed the point of this thread. Of course I can search threads like anyone else. I can find "lists" of vendors all by myself without the ragging on newbies that predominates this site. What I was looking for was not a list but rather a recommendation. You can't find that in any list. A shop that was great a couple of years ago may not be recommended now.

Anyhow, thanks to those who posted earlier. To the rest of you, you truly have to much free time on your hands.
