Try a bottle Koren BBQ marinade (forget the name of the brand but it's a black labeled bottle with yellow-ish writing IIRC). If you're old enough, buy some a cheap box of red wine and drown the steak in that with some onions, garlic and salt... it's a surprisingly great marinade and the wine is a tenderizer in itself. A good lager beer marinade with some worcestershire sauce and garlic is a winner too.

What kind of steak?

I don't marinade a good cut of beef... simple sea salt and fresh cracked pepper will do.

otherwise - try the korean BBQ marinade as salty suggests - I use the one in the big clear plastic bottle and red cap - damn good on short ribs!

Amen. a splash of worcestershire sauce at the VERY most on a good filet mignon or other nice cut. Either in the pan with some onions, mushrooms, salt, cracked pepper and some butter. On the grill with the same thing minus the butter etc. and done!

Always a good combo is a nice filet mignon with a dark beef gravy, garlic mashed potatos topped with mushrooms and onions along with some long sting beans in garlic.

/me hungry...

one of my favorite... even for burgers

extra virgin olive oil, minced garlic, salt, fresh basil, fresh grounded pepper and worchestershire sauce.

Bro, make your own maranade:

worchestershire sauce, fresh diced garlic, crushed red spicy pepper, black pepper, pinch of sugar, and beer. Works everytime. And yes, the beer is part of the maranade.

i say if you cook it right with a nice pink center (red if you're really a carnivore ) you shouldn't need anything but a bit of salt and pepper. steak sauces like worcestire, a1, etc...is like ketchup; it's used to drown out bad flavor.

^^^ I totally agree...

this is for a hong kong style bbq, where people gather around an open flame and grill meat on a skewer.

i bought a big ol flank (5 lbs!) and used a combo of the above marinade suggestions.

as always, the i-club comes through

dancing :banana:s all around!!

Chaka's "MMM" Sauce is the best maranade ever created. It has his face on the bottle, I suggest everyone try it.
