Need some input:Whats better Fast Street Car or Faster Race car?

I'm at a turning point on my STi...

Some of you maybe know the car..its been quite a project and now I'm at a turning point with it..as Mike and the crew have really sorted this car out.

Its come to the point now that i have to leave the car where it is and be happy with the current power output and detune it somewhat to avoid breaking parts and for safety on the street...or take it to the next step:

Add roll cage/strip to help with chasis flex and safety.
Remove weight extra pork.
Chasis mods.
Replace turbo/injectors and a retune it.
Replace driveline.
Purchase trailer and go for the gold.

Me and the wife have been talking about this...for awhile now.

I'm looking for some input as third party views tend to be more logical many times...I'm not posting this to try to sound like a *** hat.

What would you guys do?

Thanks

Mark

Which ever you would get more pleasure out of. i believe you have an SI as a daily driver? if you already have a fun daily, why not make it a race car?

my sti is my daily, havent gone to the drag strip yet, and drive a lot on windy roads. the only route i have is to make it as good a street car i can.

keep it as as street car, you should keep the option of driving it whenever and where you want open

I really love street cars that can murder cars at the track also. It's the kind of influence I'd like to see carried over from Japan. Alot of those guys are driving their D1 and Time Attack cars on the streets as a daily or semi-daily. I can dig that.

I say drive the crap out of it on the street and on the track, when something breaks (inevitably it will) make your decision then.

i agree with mike. If you want a hard core drag car, ditch the subie and get a 03-04 slowbra or turbo an ls1 car. The parasitic awd system is *** for the 1/4.

street car - the stage IV cams have got to go or else raise your rev limiter to 11K, that would do it.

Don't forget the 200 shot.

Mark - If I had your car I would almost certainly go to stage II cams and a GT-30 with equal length headers. That's because I would drive my car. I don't want an expensive race car. If I wanted a race only car I would look at an RX-7, Miata, older porsche or other older car.

New cars don't make the best race cars, just too much cash into them and if you wreck or blow it up, you will be hurting more.

Miatas, odler 911's (rebuilt 6 or 8 cylonder 914's are killer fast around the track too - so is a turbo 944, but who wants to be seen in one of those?) and RX-7's are all extremely versatile and much less money. I think they rock as track cars. If I had a few extra dollars that's what I would do. If you want a 1/4 mile car, then think about an older Subaru (AWD) with an H6 in it and an STi 6 speed.

When the AVCR is dailed in right (no i don't mean 30 PSI :P, just turning the gear learn off and reseting the gear boost to specs)...the things runs very strong..and boost comes on pretty good, its a matter of nailing the shifts right and taking to the car to the rev limit..in my case 7400-7500ish on the pump+meth map.

I still have to reset the gear/learning for the 104 octane mapping.

The motors alittle over cammed i agree,... Mike has done a great job at tuning around it some.

I'm lookin forward to seeing your race gas map...it'll be a screamin little wagon...Like it isn't already.

I think AWD is pretty good for drag racing.

I chose E) All of the above Bob for 400!!

Trailers are for *****es, you can still drive it on the street with the above mods, since you have a daily driver, you don't have to drive the car everyday, just drive it on the street until you get pulled over, then instead of paying the fine just make it a track car then!

No.

He still has a long way to go before he starts mouthin off like hes been doing IMHO.

But hey, hes young and dumb (as we all were once)and likes interweb drama.

If i can help him in any way..i'll do so.

The cars i look at aren't on the West Coast...PR guys/Element have some really good setups.
