I was surfing the gallery and found some nice Rex's with smoked tail lights. After surfing some more, I found out that you could either:
-buy the pre-cut laminex which costs around $50-$60...too expensive
-get a spray, "niteshades", which is risky cuz if your not careful you could spray it
unevenly
-or go with the tinting of the tailights...which is what I decided to do.
Anyways, I tried to go ahead and tint em but after several unsuccessful tries, some friends and I got sick because we would never get the edges right. The curvature of the lights made the paper bunch up around the edges.
I am wondering if anybody who has experience would be willing to help me out. I'll drive out two, maybe three hours if you live around Sacramento, CA. I'll buy lunch! yuuuuum...free lunch, hehe. Thanks in advance.

Dunno what the rules are back home in Cali, but here in Canada I know you can be held responsible if somebody rear-ends you and you have modded tail-lights. Smoked, tinted, blacked-out or otherwise messed up tail lights are an easy claim. If I rear-ended you I would sure as hell claim I couldn't see the tail lights. Just something you might want to consider.
Then again most cars these days come with tail lights that are too damn bright anyway. We should have rear fogs like in Europe, if people could just learn how to use them properly...
But something tells me you don't really care about performance, you just want the look. Whatever.

thanks for the advice. From what I've read in this forum, I am not really sure even today if they are legal. Some say that as long as they don't cover the reflectors then they should be legal. Some say they're just absolutely not. Whatever the case is I just really like the look of em.
As far as me not caring about performance, you're basing this on me wanting to mod my tail lights? That's like me saying you don't care about performance because...uhmm...i don't konw, you want to tint your windows. I wish I could afford some of the other stuff but I can't.
