I know nothing about IRC server. I want to have our own irc.i-club.com server so that we can have full control over it.

Can someone help me with this please?

 

Funny, Im trying to add the same to a websight of mine. I tried hybrid 7.0.1 (ircd) but it would not compile on my server (Mandrake 9.1). If anyone has helpful advice, I'd be interested to know as well.

i've never built or installed an IRC server, but i used to be a UNIX admin. if you're running it on UNIX or a couple of flavors of Linux i might be able to help. if you go with the PHP option, i've done some work with PHP and MySQL so i might be able to help there too.

 

what he needs is someone to donate a shell on a server so he can run ircd or another irc dameon.


He shouldnt run it on the web server for obvious reasons.

eggdrop is vunerable to attacks

we need channel services to make sure that script kiddies dont try to come and take over the server

 

you can secure an eggdrop

and ya chan serv would be best,

 

you cannot secure anything that is not serverside.. hence why chanserv is best

there is no way to take over a channel if chanserv is being used, unless someone is an idiot and gives out thier login/pass for their nick, but then its a case of someone stupid, and not the irc server

well i have run neither, i have been an eggdrop user, but never ran one.
i have a decent server with plenty of BW, point me to some software and i will set it up.
