I have a 2.1 system by Altec Lancing and they are awesome. Got them 15 years ago and still use them daily. Work flawlessly and sound great. Actually not too long ago one of my super picky/critiqufull friends complimented on how great they sounded 
Can't remember what they cost but I know it was under $130.
