Need help - Both headlights blew out at once
Hey all, figured id get the quickest response here
04 wrx, stock headlights, sylvania bulbs, they've been in my car for at least a year..
just now I turned my car on, turned my headlights (low beam) on, I saw both flicker really quick and then die
All other lights (high beam, parking lights, taillights) are working fine, pulled the low beam bulbs and the filaments were busted, checked a couple fuses that were labeled for lights and they were all good
Googled it and came back with possible relay problems, or battery/voltage...any ideas?
Just don't want to buy new bulbs and have them die instantly
TIA

Same **** happened in my GC years ago. Bulbs were new/not blown, fuses were fine. Highs and signals would work, but not lows. The switch was the culprit.

It is hard to diagnose electrical gremlins through posts.
Could just be a fluke that they blew at the same time. I say buy three bulbs use one bulb to test the sockets, if it blows the first one delve deeper with your diagnostics . If it works in both hook up the other one and put one in your glove box as a spare.
If they are blown than it is most likely not a bad switch.
Do you have a multimeter? If not I have an old one you can have. Seems I get one for x-mass every couple years.

My advice... Go to Walmart. Buy 2 new bulbs. They cost about $4.75 a piece. Put them in. See if it happens again.
It's possible that (since you were a good boy) you replaced them at the same time and they were tired. When you started it there was a voltage spike that blew them.
I'd toss 2 new bulbs in there and see if it happens again before you panic.
