Need a gauge to read intake charge temp

Hi,

I am looking for a gauge that can read the intake charge temp - I would guess with a range around -20 to 200 F...would prefere degrees F. I haven't found anything like this, most of the guages I find for this range are either external temp or water. I need one with a sender that can read the airflow temp the way EGT does.

Any help?

Thanks!

You can get that info with a scanner through the OBD-II Data Link Connector, you probably want a gauge that reads all the time though, so I dunno.

True...a OB2 scan tool can be used or you can try hooking up a DVOM that has a temp probe...that way you could get the temp reading from the EXACT location you want.

The scannners the easiest way

We have a unit that measures the intake temp charge it has 2 inputs, we used it when testing IC's. I'll dig up the cost info for you and let you know.

Wetach Gage has something that might fit your needs.
Look at model 2DC3-21.

you know, that's kind of a neat little gauge. It appeals to the geek in me.

I know you spend a lot of time thinking about food, but I don't think my application has anything to do with this item.

Thanks anyway.

actually, it does work.. alot of people DIY using these or the temp monitor from radio shack... but I guess you rather spend $230 than just the $30 bucks to try it.

or maybe you need another thread to ask which one you should use...

welcome anyways..

I appologize if I've hurt your feelings, I thought you were just trying to be like Mike - but these require a rather large bolometer (sending unit used to covert thermal energy into electrical signals) how would I incorporate that into air flow??

On most thermometers of this type, only the tip of the probe is read for temp. all you'd have to do is drill a slightly undersized hole into the relevant hose and push the probe into the airstream. Of course, if you're running high boost, it might pop the probe right out of the hose, and that'd be bad.
