Need to Borrow - Pass through socket set for spring install 17mm

I attempted to do my spring install today but couldn't get the damn top hats off without having the proper tool.

Let me know if you have one that I can borrow for the day!

Someone in the 408!

Thanks
Rob

if you bought the genuine vice grips they should do the job. the new ones have an allen socket on the adjustment dial so you can tighten it even more once its locked. also the ones with the curved jaw will be a better fit around a socket. if it still slides on the socket, you can grind the sides down flat (if you have a grinder) or maybe try a impact socket as those are a little more abrasive and should provide more friction.

i did mine a few weeks ago. bit of a pain, but totally doable without the open socket set imo.

you can buy a single 17mm socket that has a hex base like this, than you just work the hex base with a wrench and pass the Allen through the hole

looks like this

Had I sent this earlier, I would have lent you my set. I had the same issue before. Only thing is I had to travel to Sears in Pleasanton because none around here nor Orchard had them.
