Whit,

You might want to give my friend Joe (Porboys) a call (www.porboys.com). He specializes in German cars including BMW's.

If you're in/near Berkeley, hit up H & B. One of my best buds works there and they're super good. Strictly BMW mechanics.

Wolfgangs foreign car service on Parkside Drive in Walnut Creek.

My family has been going there for years and I used to go there with the BMW's I used to have as well.

He specializes in BMW's and has been working on them forever, his son Fred who also works there has a couple BMW race cars and knows them inside out.

I highly suggest taking your cars there, you will not be disappointed.

No I wouldn't do that H&B and I had a very bad time with each other, they broke a sparkplug in my 635 scored up the cylinder and refused to take responsibility.
Alan Hardy is a crook, I'd tell you to go anywhere else first, but Bavarian Professionals on 7th behind Pyramid is really the best BMW shop in the east bay.

Brian your friend should go work for them, H&B treats their customers like dog crap

you can read about my expeience with them here:

(I put that up in 97, kind of surprised to see its still there....)

Thanks for the heads up Pete. I've never personally had any dealings with Alan, but my buddy is a great mechanic and an even better friend so I thought I'd throw the recommendation out there.
