My Poor Wheel
Ok today I was late to school and I kind of went over the speed bumps kind of fast... so basically i want to know, how hard is it to bend a rim? i have a volvo and the rims are prolly 16's with big tires. It kind of feels like the tire/rim is bent but i can see anything... then again that bumpy feeling could be petaluma's crap roads... any way for me to check if i need a new rim... i'd rather not buy a new rim that would suck... the tire didn't loose any air so if it is bent can i still use the tire/rim?

first off, a speed bump wont bend your rim......I hit a curb about a month or so back, CURBS WILL bend your rims....I am living proof....as are many other i-clubbers.
secondly to double check, go get your rim (the one you think is bent) balanced at a tire place....they can tell if its bent.
Thirdly, IF you hit something hard enough to bend a rim....chances are that your lower control arm is bent too (an alignment will show this)......again....this I know from experience......I am currently awaiting the arrival of my STi Aluminum lower Control Arms.

In an old car, I drove over a corner of curbing at less than 5 mph. This damaged the tire cord enough to allow a bubble to develop in the tread area. The tire became more undriveable as time went on (vibration, steering shimmy) until I had to have it replaced.
