This that you mention would be the honourable way to proceed for sure, however based on my own personal experience anything I experience in the future that is similar to what I have been through will be handled directly through the BAR.

In my case, I spent months trying to go this route with a shop and essentially what I got out of it is a bad feeling, and a permanently damaged car that reminds of the crap every day.

Oh and +1 for midgets.
