Well, I must say that we have been having fun at our new home in Orange County. Perhaps we have had a little too much fun

Becuase I can see it is different from any Suby crank I have seen before. Stock of course. So, I wanted to know if it was a custom crank or a machined one. Just curious.

That is pretty brutal. It must have made some really amazing power before it gave way. No worries, I am sure that we will see the 2.8L motor rise once again. I bet that the block is probably still ok. I know it was using an EJ22 closed-deck shortblock.

The tranny, the clutch, the heads and all internals, except the crank, lived to play another day. I mean we all knew that something was bound to go, like the 100k+ rear open diff (man that thing just wont DIE!)
Cannot even begin to guesstimate on the power or torque it was making. It was just a little more neck snapping than usual
Sadly I will probably be going back to the original 2.8 per Crawford specs. I know...rough life
In the meantime, it obvious that we need more supporting equipment before the maiden voyage of I-Speed 2.8 SE Ver. 2.

Pretty much....yeah...I was showing off the set-up.
We can make a guess at what happened. But, that is our guess. The builder, Crawford Performance, probably can give better details as he is the one who engineered it.
To the best of my knowledge, over revving slings rods and/or damages pistons. I wasn't over my 8k limit

just to much of a load on the crank it would seem. Wonder if it was just pure stress fracture or if there was an imperfaection in the metal.regardless that sucks..

Please do not ask, as we cannot divulge the kool R&D stuff. If all had went well, then of course we would share. But, we all know what happened to I-Speed SE ver.1. On to ver2
regardless that sucks..
The banana is down?
I'm sure something even better is in the works

Sorry to hear about the news Chris, but that is what R&D is for. Break things, and design new ways to make them better and stronger. I bet Crawford is happy for finding things like this now. Good luck on 2.8 ver. 2. I bet it will take a lot more than just 1200 pounds and over-reving to kill it.
