My car got raped.

Last night between 4:30 and 6 pm I parked on Buena Vista avenue in berkeley up in the hills. When I got back to my car my stereo and radar detector were stolen. My paint and drivers side window are really scratched. My window trim is messed up, and the window no longer moves. My estimates give about 1000 dollars or more in losses. I dont know it anyone cares, just thought I would warn you about the area.

sorry to hear about this.

what kind of radar detector was it? we can at least keep an eye out for you on ebay or craig's list.

also, did the headunit have a removable face? that's often time the most effective theft prevention...remove the face!

edit: one more thing. if you're gonna pay a hefty deductible to insurance to cover this, dig up those receipts for teh stolen items and whatever else.

that sucks

Did you have an alarm?

I forgot to remove the face of my radio one night parked in Pinole... the police found my car in Oakland 5 days later gutted and sitting on 4 spare tires. Make sure you can dig up receipts!

thieves suck.

They cause thousands of dollars of damage to a car just so they car sell a radio for $50.

I had this happen to me once. Cost me over $2500 in repairs just for an old radio.

Good luck getting your car fixed.

If it was an aftermarket head unit....think about what you claim to insurance....they give like $1,100 for the stock unit.

As Vincent Vega said, it would be worth having them do this crap just so I could catch them doing it one time. Glock Fu.

That sucks man. =(

mine got broken into a few months after I bought it. They stole a little zipper case with a half dozen casette tapes in it. Luckily my 0-deductable comp covered the window and stuff. I've learned to never have ANYTHING interesting visible in your car. So I got a stock WRX headunit and keep my detector tucked away.
