I know this sounds unlikely, but my mom put diesel in 2000 civic once and I had the very similar symptoms. You never know, some pumps have two nozzles.

Uh, why exactly do you think your rings blew?

Are you issuing huge clouds of black smoke out the rear?

If not, then it's something else most likely....

1. so no turbo boost....could you have popped off one of the hoses to the intercooler?

2. Turbo failure...could've seized, but I would expect that oil would shoot through the bearing housing and flow down the exhaust creating large black clouds of mess.

3. Drive by wire throttle fail - I've seen this once, but I can't recall exactly what the symptoms are....

Look I'm a major amateur at this despite my millions of hours of broken car...take it to a shop ASAP and get it diagnosed.

Cheers

yikes. Take it to the dealership if it's under warranty. Why is it a common problem on the 07's?
What changed in the 08's?

The tunes on the 07 were said to be awful, but I dont think this is a tuning issue.
