My Battery's toast??!!

Gone for a month in January, battery died but came back to life after a jump and a full day of slow trickle charge... Died again yesterday since it sat for 2 weeks chillin in my garage... Tried charging it all day even set charger for a 100amp quick start, but no luck. It's an Oddysey PCof**** race battery btw. So is it really toast? Any suggestions for a replacement battery? Nothing too fancy...

you should be able to bring it into autozone or kragen and have them check it out for you for free... good luck...

Sounds like you have the same battery I have. I've found out that it loses around .4 volts in one week (according to my turbo timer) if you don't start up the car. After a one week peroid of not starting the battery gets down to about 10.9-11.0 volts. I've been able to start my car with that low of voltage on and off, sometimes needed to jump start it though. Basically if you are not going to be starting up the car for a week or more then leave the battery disconnected. In your case though sounds like its completely dead so I'd just replace it with something cheaper if I was you.

Very deceiving thread title

I was expecting this to be about the toast you made for your battery.

From my research there are 3 routes for batteries.

1. _____ brand battery with warranty and decent CCA for cold starts (standard reliable/budget route)

2. Optima (audiophile route)

3. Braille (lightweight route)

When the battery died on my old wrx wagon, I just replaced it with a battery from Autozone that had a good warranty. After core exchange it was only ~ $40-50.

The braille and oddysey batteries are great for lightweight with good cold cranking amps. But they require a constant charge. If you are not driving the car regularly, then you should invest in a trickle charger. The Braille 15 lbs battery is great for street cars and race cars alike, but still requires a constant maintenance charge. If you're trying to save weight in your street car, don't worry about the 20lbs you can save with a $180 battery, just date skinnier chicks...

No, no. After I gave them the old battery I only had to pay like $40 for the new one. Core exchange is usually ~ $10.

haha my 130lb chick is in SanDiego...so i take the 50lb passenger seat out and tell her to sit in the back when she visits...no not really, i bolt the seat back in

i was thinking about a trunk mount battery, then figured get a braille and not need to mount it in the trunk since the copper wire would negate the weight savings of braille vs. normal battery.
