Cure-all. Well, mostly, but I haven't had a problem or needed to install a patch in over 3 years.

i called dell tech support about something else completely diff.

she helped me with my original problem and then proceeded to ask me about the RPC hole.

i laughed. i told her we were patched up the wazoo. i asked her how many calls she's gotten. for the 2 hours she was working, about 200...

LOL... friggin' micro$oft...

They had us turn off all the PC here at work I'm talking 4 different sites w/ 100's of people. They just got us back up after about 6 hrs. Even then I got a call from our IT. I had to help manually install the patch on some of the workstations in my wing. Our IT people are a joke mostly.

Our IT just sends a message to our systems and force to patch the system. The damn message would keep on pop-in' up until we patch the damn thing. But it sure worked!

Thanks for the command drezzle, it mkaes it a bit easier for me to try to fix my computer.

Unfortunately the I am having problems with the "fixes". There is a 64 bit and a 32 bit one for xp, and I have downloaded and tried both of these, but neither seem to work.

When I try to open one of the programs a window pops up that says "Setup could not verify the integrity of the file update.inf . Make sure the cryptographic service is running on the computer" Okay I have no idea what the hell this means so could anybody tell me?

When I try to open the other program it says that it's not a valid win 32 program.

There is also a warning bubble that keeps on popping up that tells me that various programs are corrupt and to run chkdsk? Where is check disk?

And there is another window that comes up at startup that says the file TFTP3924 cannot be found.

Can anybody help me?????

James

There is another window popping up that says there was an invalid procedure call with a program called smartissue.
