Mt. Hammy photographers thread
Mt. Hammy photographers thread
it's that time of year again.
Last year we had a good group of people taking photos at the event and on the road around some of the curvey areas. Hopefully we can get some more good shots this year.
If the weather is mild this year I will shoot the cars as they near the park.

then I will move further up the road until I find a nice curvey shaded spot under the trees and wait until the lunch is over for the fun runs to start.
I can not walk much anymore so I will not be at the event itself.
Anyone else interested?
and the first rule of driving events is
Never wave to the photographer! Cool handsignals are OK. (just keep the hand still)

.Still need to get a couple more filters and a lense or three.

Bdougr - Any advice on a lense to buy? I would like to get a lense that has image stablizer, Macro, and something around 300mm+.

well I am a Nikon guy so don't have much to offer for canon bodies
get a nice wide angle (Sigma makes a 12 to 20)
good zooms with stabilization are costly
Most of my shots are with
17-35mm f/2.8
70-200mm f/2.8 VR
80-400 f/4-5.6 VR
50mm f/1.4
85mm f/1.4
for Mt. Hamilton you will use a wide angle unless you can find a spot to shoot from a distance (few areas)
for filters I only use polarizers and Neutral Density (ND) to cut light

I am a camera newb but want to learn more abotu this new tool/toy I have. I know it can do some wicked cool stuff, but a lot of it comes down to optics, and that I know nothing about.
When is this happening again?
I might mosey out there to take a few pictures myself. I'm a Canon shooter. If I go, chances are my bro will be out there as well; he's a Nikon user...it figures....
edit: nevermind -- i will be in Thailand on vacation at the time.
I was hoping to test my Mark 2N + 70-200L IS combo...i don't get to use it much outside of weddings and events. My bro shoots with the D200 and D2X, btw.

I am DEFINITELY no pro, but I still really enjoy trying my best to take cool shots.
