moving to bay area, questions for locals?

Heya Folks,

Moving out to your lovely area from Jersey (e-gawds!) .. and I have a few questions.

They're putting me somewhere called Belmont, and I looked at the map, it doesn't appear to be THAT far... so here goes nothing!

-Looking for a beater car, while I wait for the rest of the stuff to arrive. Any suggestions as to local papers/places I can look for a cheap, functional car I can buy/use as a beater?

-The same for random furniture bits (I'm sure there's an IKEA or whatever nearby), but if anyone local is moving/dumping things, lemme know

-Where can I go to see lotsa subarus?

Thanks!

hey, well welcome to the bay. to answer a few of your questions theres an IKEA over in palo alto which is close to Belmont. just off of the 101 highway.

if you want to come and see some subarus, you can come to UCKK. we meet every tuesday nite *union city* which is about 15- 20 minutes away from Belmont. the only thing is youll have to cross the bridge going back home which is 3 bucks.

ill hope to see ya around and hope you enjoy the bay

www.craigslist.org - Your one stop shop for anything you need. Casual encounters, cars, furniture.

Look for garage sales too, or search the classifieds there for ikea and you will see a crap load of stuff.

Thumbs up Welcome to the Bay..

Welcome to the bay area..
I grew up in San Carlos, which is right next door..
You can also check autotrader online for used cars in the area.
Belmont is about 40minutes from San Fransisco, and 35 minutes from San Jose.

There is also wheels and deals in Santa Clara where you can find some vehicles for cheep.

+1 for CL.

It moves fast. Things sell quick and prices are usually fair. Plus you generally have a lot of options. You're not gonna like the gas prices so maybe get a bike or bug.

Belmont is a awesome sleepy little town
alot of great neighborhoods with houses in the median price level of about 700k
yes thats about the average.

I actually went to high school in belmont.
its 25 minutes fron the beach.. 25 minutes from san francisco... 30 minutes from san jose... 20 minutes from teh east bay... its basically near the absolute center of the bay area..

good luck and have fun.
