Motorcycle commuters... who moves over for ya?
In my commute (in bay area traffic) motorcycles are lane splitting. As soon as I can, I try and move over within my lane to give em space.
I'm starting to notice a trend of the "type" of car that will do this for the bikes and who doesn't.
I'm wondering: for the motorcycle riders, who tends to give you space and who tends to be oblivious (or an *******)?

From a few years of riding, I have noticed it is mostly sports cars who tend to move for me. Here and there I will get the "usual" vehicle to make me some space. But you never know, even when I do see a sporty car who might let me get through, you can never trust the driver. I thank you for letting us riders breathe a little.

As a rider my self I appreciate It when people move over, I'm always on the look out when I'm In my work van as I know I take up most of the lane lol.
When I'm lane splitting I do tend to notice that Its the sportier looking cars that move over.
I wish more people would pay attention to their mirrors when driving and switching lanes, I almost got slammed into the center divide by a Prius driver on the phone today on 101S near Ralston.

I always get over for motorcyclists although yesterday I had some idiot on a bike pass me on the shoulder after I changed into his lane 60-75 feet in front of him. I figure karma will catch up with him eventually.

During the summer, I commute a lot from Santa Clara to SF, so I travel 101N a lot.
I personally move for them (mostly during traffic situations). But I also see all kinds of people moving for them. From people in rental cars, to even SFO Airport Shuttle Buses (saw this one yesterday. The huge bus moved over to the shoulder whenever a motorcycle came by.) I usually see/get the peace and thumbs up.

Given than the biker is considerate and obeying traffic rules, I always try to move over lanes or given them room for lane splitting as much as possible. However, I can't be bothered to do jack ish if they are total ***** being disregardful to other motorists; i.e. splitting lanes at unsafe speed or traffic conditions, passing on shoulders, weaving in/out of traffic like its Moto GP, etc.
The worst for me though is when choppers/baggers/Harleys split lanes and unnecessarily rev the utter CRAP out of their engines as they pass everyone at 10 mph; in their case I try to block them as much as I can

Agreed, the Harley is the ultimate douchebag mobile....Its like if you buy a Harley you instantly turn into a badass. These people watch outlaw biker docs too much.
I commute for the north bay to S.F. by motorcycle almost every day...going on 10 years. Sporty cars, work trucks, anything with euro plates and quite a few bus drivers make room for me most of the time. Prius/Volvo/SUV tend to move over the least. If you more over for bikes....THANKS

I move over.
Harleys are okay, lots of people riding them are cool. Plenty of douchei ride sports bikes and Harleys, I don't discriminate and move over regardless. One thing I can't stand is when a rider passes on the right of a car that's in the right lane -- that's just ignorant. Sneakers and other shoes with shoe laces, lack of gloves, dress shirt flapping in the wind exposing back and butt crack, on-the-toilet sitting positions -- few other things that get me.

I always move over. When I first moved here it scared the crap out of me when the first few bikes past me then I got used to it. I look out for bikers as my dad damn near died from someone not paying attention when I was like 14. I always give them plenty or room as well.
