morning commute 101N from south bay to burlingame
Hey BAIC, need some advise.
I gotta go from san jose (at 85 and 17) up to Burlingame off 101 and be commuting between 8:30 and 9:15.
Google maps says to go 85 to 101 to Burlingame, but I know there's going to be bad traffic.
Is there a better way?
Take 280 and cut over in Burlingame?

I go to work from san jose to sunnyvale every morning and I can tell you they are all equally bad, unless you carpool. Somedays one freeway is quicker than the other, but its a hit or miss.. you can always listen to the radio to get a traffic report too.
ON 101 northbound, it usually clears up after the 87 intersection/montague exit. Not sure how bad it gets when you go further towards Burlingame however.

I go from santa cruz to san bruno few times a week, leavin sc at around 7-730 and get to sb by 830 always...from 17 I go to 280n and get into carpool and its usually about 50mph steady until about page mill and then 80mph the rest of the way...non carpool is about 20mph
I don't take 85 cuz the 85n onramp from 17n has a meter light so it takes a while but if you are already on 85, I'd still use 280, not 101

Thanks for all the replies.
I did the 17 to 280 to 91 to 101n because bythe time I got to 91 it was after 9 am.
280 sucks until you get past Cupertino. 101 sucks from mtn view on up according to my coworker.

101 is a nightmare the entire way from San Jose to South SF
280 is def quicker but still sucks until you hit Cupertino
If you can hit 280/17 before 7am than its still pretty clear
