I really hate using the word "invested" when I describe how much work is put into a car (especially if it's my own). That word "invested" just seems like a joykill for the tuning hobby and totally takes the fun out of it. That car is nice, but for $90 "invested", with that kind of money into a project like that, I wouldn't settle for some Sony Xplod and Polk Momo bullcrap stereo equipment with that budget to work with. Even my computer costs more than his stereo.

he didnt pay for the stereo....it was a 100% sponsorship that's why he had THOSE components....cant argue with Free.....just my opinion though.

Its nice to see the car is nearly in the same condition as it was when he sold it.

I'll just save my comments about this car, and it's beginnings though...

I'd rather spend $27K on a R.32 GT-R. Add downpipes, ECU and exhaust and smoke that thing without having to use NAAAWWWZ. That guy must be smoking crack if hes trying to get $75K for that thing.

Out Of The Ashes
What's up i-club? Damn, this is the most amazing thread ever. A friend of mine's husband sent me the link on eBay and to this thread. There is so much confusion I just had to respond. To be crystal clear, I have not owned this car for over a year and am in no way associated with the sale on eBay. The car was perfect when I sold it and DID NOT have those ghetto tail lights installed. Anyone who ever rode in it or drove it while I owned it can attest to its performance. Here are a few things that were stated incorrectly in the thread:
1. The body kit was made by Gram Lights and at the time was one of two in the country
2. The roll cage, is a custom built bolt in cage that came out of the Prodrive/HKS race car owned by Scott K. of Prodrive.
3. From a tuning perspective, the car was done 100% by Brainstorm in So Cal. It runs a Link standalone and has spent hours on the dyno. I sold it with maps for two turbos (AVO 450 and VF-34) running both 100 and 91 octane.
4. The car was heavily sponsored for over a year with parts and labor being supplied at no cost. The only commitment was to show up to a set number of shows on behalf of the companies involved. We did spend a good chunk of change on the car, but no where near 75K. That is just insane. I would say the car is probably worth 30-35K at this point. Nothing more. Hell, you could rebuild the car from scratch based on the new body style WRX for less money.
5. The guy who bought it seemed like a good guy, but as everyone here knows once you sell a car it is never the same. My assumption is that the car is nowhere near as clean as when I owned it, that the tuning is probably screwed up and that it needs some TLC. But hey, maybe I am wrong.
I loved that car and had a incredible time building and showing it. I met a ton of great people (BDG Meets Rule!) and landed on the cover of a few magazines while I was at it. I wouldn't change a thing.
If anyone has any questions let me know.
Peace,
Ben

? .....for 30k I'd rather spend 10k on a corvette w/ a blown engine and dump 20k into a built C5-R block copy, machine and pipe what I need w/ twin T04 50 trim turbos and make 1000 hp and kill anything you will ever make. Or better yet, take a couple hundered more man hours and weld together a sandrail chassis and do that.

woah...what a tool.
after reading MoreHP's comments, what I was thinking sounds even more true. This guy knows nothing about cars, even less about subaru's and is trying to make all his money back to buy the next big fad. Something RHD. I can not believe he put those tail lights on that car. The car isn't my style but it definately didn't deserve that kind of treatment.
I mean everything the guy listed as prices is over priced. the car. the turbos. the Hp. etc. who cares about crank hp..and how is he suppose to know crank hp numbers?
I looked at an 03 ESX with like 5k miles on it. Faster and nice enough. $42k off the blocks. Sold it for around $25k. This dude will be lucky to see $35k for that car. I'm thinking more like $28.5k.
not that it's not nice enought to see 35k....I just don't think it will. Not with that full selling it.

+++On a sidenote about the speed, an E-bayer wrote me a message and figured out the gear ratios/speed and stated it would figure out to 185 mph at 7200 RPM so in an effort for accuracy I didnt want to change my original statement but try to give you all of the info I have. The cars full redline band runs from 7000 RPM - 9000 RPM you decide for yourself.+++
This car will do about 200 mph. I have not had it up that high, but based off of the speeds I have gone and the amount of rpm left, it will be right in the 200 range +/- a little. This car takes off like a rocket. You will have to get used to a Stage 2 NOS and the Stage 3, 2 plate racing clutch and 4-wheel drive, but once you master this thing you wont believe the power!
HEY EVERYBODY, FASTEST WRX EVER FOR ONLY 75K, WHAT A DEAL
