I build engines.
Have a machine shop that, amongst other engines, does aircraft work.
They do all of the machining & inspection and either myself or my Subaru Senior Master Tech guru assembles the block.
Shoot me a PM if interested.

My mr2 had a cracked ringland x4 It blew oil everywhere. So not to sure about that, On the leakdown it was blowing air out the exhaust and with the popping I think it s a valve. With the 2nd tune out of 4 from the one place my EGT's got warm as my tune saw my idc's go 103% It also looks to be coolant on one of the plugs. With the missing going on, I was also getting wastegate duty cycle cels with a few others.
I'll PM you with the price for the core.
Thanks

Just to add a little input, we have been using/selling Crawford blocks for years and haven't had any issues with any of them. We've sold many throughout the years and even have used them in our own shop cars FWIW.

Seriously, RE: Crawford motors. Like I always say, 95% of I-club doesn't have more than a wrx w/ a minor turbo upgrade, or a catless STI, and people are talking smack and out for vendetta about these shops' built motors as if they blew their $10,000 longblock firsthand.

the power of i-crub...
He was on top of my list as my tuner. But two things. You cant polish a turd. So if its got mechanical problems...... you cant tune them out.
2nd. I'm really not liking ecutek and their lock out policy. I could have fixed my tuning problems before they hit this point had I been able to get at it. My delta dash doesnt let me.
I might go open source or Ap as they both allow me to have full control of my ecu. Had I known at the time I'd be locked. I'd never got it tuned with it.

Shiggy also does F-Con and other speed density stuff since for the higher HP subarus in Japan they tend to use standalones more readily than in the US I think
That's why you could consult him on the tuning and Kevin working closely for the buildup. IIRC Kevin's also built bikes for a couple AMA teams. His background is Honda OEM tech where he worked on their cars and bikes then went to Subaru when the WRX came out in '01. There's only a few other people in the bay area as experienced in Subarus as him. Many of the shops in the bay area did not get into subarus until a couple years later, and a few of the big tuners in the bay area did not even start tuning subarus, or did not even start tuning PERIOD, until a couple years later
I'm not an AHQ fanboi, I just think he's one of the few guys still in the business because he loves cars, not for the money (I mean this isn't just the aftermarket automotive industry, in all industries you start business b/c it's a passion and as time goes on some people lose sight of that). You see it in the project DeLorean (yes he's probably the only Asian who's got a DeLorean on the planet), FD rx7, silvias, random projects he's got.

The Delorean isn't his. It was a customer's car who couldn't make up his mind what to do with it. But it's gone from the shop now.

stay far far away from crawford.
my advice is to do one of 3 things considering what's immediately available.
1. Buy a cosworth motor..it's the best you can get in my opinion.
2. GST has nicely built blocks available RIGHT NOW for under $3000.
3. Buy a stock one.

I will be picking up a core short block this week thanks to a great board member. Once I get it torn down later in the week. I'll make a shopping list.
I also ran my log files from the delta dash thru a enginuity Log file Interpolation sheet. God damn **** was everywhere. I also picked up a APS SR55 to upgrade too. Love to get rotated but worried about living in california with it.
Anyways,
This should be fun, I'm excited for once or is that because I got pissed off and went to disneyland for the weekend..... Oh well.... Back to disney for the fireworks...
