Modified OBS vs Stock WRX

My heart wants another sleeper, but my head says I should buy something "ready made" that the insurance company won't quibble over if I meet another cow. What should I do?

Good point. Def. make the FMIC black. There are a lot of sleeper mods you can make to a WRX that are even more sleeper when applied to a wrx with the wagon body.

if you don't want the insurance to quibble over it,

go for the OBS XT!

Or hell, even a Forester XT.

You will be raped with the WRX.

OBS XT ? Is this different from the OBS Wagon with 173 hp?

I test drove the Forester XT last w/e and it was not as much fun on the twisties as the OBS or WRX. The Forester would be practical while the OBS or WRX would be fun!

Yeah I know the insurance quote I got for an 04 WRX was 50% more than for a new OBS ...

FMIC = front mount intercooler.

OBS XT: http://www.subaru.com/shop/overview....im=25_XT_WAGON

Same engine as the Legacy GT. 2.5 Turbo, can't go wrong! And the raised ground clearance compared to the regular Legacy gives you some offroading capabilities (just don't think it's a Jeep).

The Forester kind of sucks in the twisties stock. You can mod it, but you'll always be playing second fiddle to a car with a lower center of gravity. But how crazy do you really want to get with the handling?

Thanks for the info! Sounds like another car to go test drive ... wonder if Oakland Subaru will let me do that! I've already done 25 mile test drives on an 06 OBS manual and an 06 Forester XT manual <grin>!

Its nice to have a new unmolested car with no quirks, but the new cars just don't seem as "sleepy" as the old...

just buy an older suby, like mid 90s, and drop an STi motor in there. Your insurance will be really low, and it will be the ultimate sleeper.

Until you swap in that STi suspension...
