so mitsubishi has bowed out for '06. opinions on what this means for subaru?

Uh no- both those teams are out next year too,

Subaru's only factory competition is going to be Ford.

There will be some very powerful private teams backing Loeb and Grondholm and probably a few others as well, so it shouldn't be a total snoozefest.

yeah right... Mitsubishi bowed out the past, I think it's 3?, years and said they'd be back in '06. They said it was to "put more money to furthur develop their car"

wasnt mitshibushi like pretty bad in 2005? i remember they had trouble finding a sponsor or something.

Actually Mitsubishi improved a lot in 2005.

The next WRC driver champion will probably be a privateer anyway. I don't know, I think Subaru will have a pretty good shot at the manufacturer championship since Petter will have more experience behind the wheel of his car. I think, once again, that Loeb is the biggest hurdle for Petter (and every other driver in WRC). He's sooo consistent.

While Loeb is an incredible driver, he was accompanied this year by a nearly flawless and consistent vehicle. That may not be the case with a different manufacturer/sponsor.
