No band is worth the price they were charging.
EDIT: I was told they were over $100, but looks like they are the standard Metallica $50. Still not worth it.

!!!As much as I hate Metallica's new stuff (after the black album), their old stuff is still some of the best metal ever produced (Ride the lightining, Master of puppets, kill 'em all)!! I don't just hate their new stuff, but it actually REALLY bothers me when I hear it... On the same level as Creed bothering me, it's that bad!!
Even still, I'd love to see them one last time in concert because they always play a lot of their old stuff, and even though James has changed his "singing" style from his classic metal-like singing to his "creed-like singing", it's still cool to see in person... Lots of history there and Metallica is def in the history books as one of the best metal (if not THE best) bands of all time.
I'll never forget when I used to listen to them in my garage back in 1989+ while working on my skateboard and hanging out with my good friends (My garage had carpet and a couch) Master of puppets and ride the lightning were always my favs and were pumped through my old stereo on a daily basis...
It was such a sad year when Metallica came out with their "New" album, and we all know which one that was...
Everything changed and they went from one of my fav bands to one of my most hated bands, just like that... People think that people who hate Metallica only hate them because they got all mainstream and popular... I don't care how mainstream and popular they are, if their music is good then their music is good, simple as that, but that wasn't the case with Metallica... Along with their image, their music changed big time and just sucked. We fans were used to one thing and Metallica came out with another... It was a sad time in the world of metal.
I'll always remember their golden years when their music was true to the genre, metal and damn good metal at that...

Naw, I'm just kidding... A lot of people think that however, and as great as Cliff Burton was, Metallica still made some GREAT songs without him and Newsted was a great Bassist. Cliff's bass solo on "Kill 'em all" was sooo friggin great, especially for it's time.
Bruce I'm with you 100% on those posts!
It was like seeing a totally different band when Load came out. They've released a few things that were good, but gone were the albums that you could just drop in and listen to. I remember Metallica as being one of a very few bands that I could just play the entire album and not feel like hitting the next song button (or fast forwarding the tape haha).
All things considered I do actually like quite a few of their songs from albums after Black. You also have to admit that the Fuel video is entertaining at times. There are even a couple songs on Load that don't completely fail (King Nothing comes to mind).
I wish I had known about the concert...I wish someone posted it sooner. I would have gone. I would have probably paid good money to sit closer. It seems the last few concerts I've gone to with open seating or value seating have just been pot smoking parties in the back. That's a whole different conversation though.

No one should expect them to keep coming out with another Ride the Lighting for 20 years. They did what they did and moved on to something else. Some like it some don't. I like a few songs from just about every album since the Black album (and just about everything before that). Death Magnetic is really starting to grow on me.
That being said, if you've seen Metallica before, unless you're a die hard fanboy, you're not going to pay $50 for tickets. But if you're a newer generation of listener and never seen them live before, it might be worth $50.
