He disappeared after stealing an officer friend of mines money and also kept a few of my friends cars hostage which lead to insurance cashing them out for loss of car. The shop then went under "new management" which maybe was Scammys cousin and finally closed and that was the end of that.

Really? 0_o Wow.

Reported it to the main mods there (IIRC IvanW's brother's one of the mods.) yet?
So yeah, SKETCHY-SKETCH-SKETCH. Run A Way, unless you got property to fight over then rake 'em across the coals.

I think it's legit. I vaguely remember the guy but haven't talked to him since roughly 2007. If I had info for him I'd gladly provide it, but I have no idea where Scammy is hiding these days. The guy still owes me a good chunk of money too though I haven't expected to get it back for about 5 years now.

I would tell the guy what's basically been said here.
You worked for Scammy, you weren't a co-owner so you personally aren't liable for anything.
If this guy got ripped off like pretty much everyone else who seems to have ever crossed Sammy's path... he should get to take a shot at recouping something

I still dont understand how this guy isnt in jail? or maybe thats where he is now... A customer can pretty much walk inside a shop and take their car without paying. If you put up a fight, they can then call a cop and take their car. A cop doesnt care for the contract, only whats on the registration. They release the car to the registered owner and then tell the shop owner to take him to court.
How the **** does someone get away with grand theft auto on multiple occasions and stay out of jail is beyond me. Why wouldnt you contact a lawyer/cops, file charges and take him to court?

CA has a stupid policy on LLC's
Basically anyone can start 2 corporations; Use the 1st to run up bills (liabilities), when they no longer feel like paying... they can move the assets to the second corporation and declare bankruptcy with the first.
There is very little creditors can do to collect.
Even the owner signing a personal guarantee of finances doesn't mean anything in the courts anymore.
