I'll post a example of how SF turned my buddy Gustavo into a hipster. I'll give you a little background on my bud, he grew up in Antioch in a latino family. He was a typical guy, liked hip-hop (mainstream radio stuff) was very clean cut, wore dickies and button up collered shirts on the reg.
Well he and my other buddy Dom transfered from the local CC to SFSU so they decided that they would rent a place out there. The more I went out there, the more I realized he was changing. It started out as a interest in local underground hip-hop, then he started painting pictures and trying to sell them on the street. Then he started riding a 10 speed and hanging out at delores park. Now he rides a fixy everywhere, wears vintage clothing and drinks PBR and hang out oustide of clubs drinking tallcans. Here are some before and after pics.
