Unless you get a rear-wheel drive gen 1(?) Celica, 1971-77, which you'd probably need to work on quite a bit, then get the Miata. I really like the original Celica, but you pay through the nose for ones in good condition.

Miata

It was named the second best Sports Car of all time (behind the Porsche 911). It might look like a chick car, but that thing is probably the best handling car for the money. Couple that with the fact that there's a HUGE aftermarket for them among the serious SCCA/NASA folk and it really opens up a ton of possibilities.

gt4s in the states are called alltracks

go for a lotus elise/exige

celica gts motor, sitting in a body that is superior and far less gay looking than the miata, sorry miata fans. It does handle like its on rails though, the mazda drive thing I went to...miata aren't bad(everytime I see some middle aged driving one, I feel like they're going thorugh a mid life crisis, not as bad as boxster owners though). Of course the lotus is 2-3 times more in cost. and if you're looking at used, even more.

and they're awesome...the rarity makes them pretty expensive(one in good shape).

What i want is a corolla all trac wagon!

I chose a spec miata, a trailer, and tow vehicle over a lotus elise. And that was after renting an Elise for 3 days.

I had a miata for 2 weeks, sold it to a guy doing the mid-life thing. Fun car, but didn't fit what I needed. I kept the celica though......getting buried in that thing since I can't afford a coffin because of it.

Get that car that fits what you need it for. Miata's aren't good for anything practical, decent mileage, NO STORAGE I mean not even for a pack of paper towels. If none of those are concerns, go for it.
