Masamune Shirow is making a new movie
The books *are* amazing. I guess the first appleseed movies didn't really suck that much, its just that the movie adaptations weren't up to the standards the books created.

Dude the original film did not suck. It's just alittle dated. It came out in 1988. The manga is kick a$$ though.

I'll be sure to look for it in the theatre when it comes out
I prefer Miyazaki Hayao's imagination, talent and brilliance; his films are much more entertaining and enlightening, especially over some action/porno wannabe flick.
But to each his own I guess....

ghost in the shell 2 is due out in japanese theaters march 5th i think. it's about Batou finding the human within him or something like that after major kusanagi is gone. looks tight.

As for getting a chance to see the Appleseed movie, it's not difficult. We DO live in the Bay Area, which seems to have the largest North American Japanese population outside of Hawai'i (in other words, get off your **** and go to your local Japanese video store
)
