Maintenance work? (Oil/Brakes)
Hey all. Relatively new to the area (heh... 1 year) and the impreza needs to get some work done... namely brakes (lines/pads/fluid) and oil (possibly tranny as well). Any good shops to get all of this done? In theory I could do it myself but a) I am lazy, and b) I have no help.
I'm willing to go anywhere on the Peninsula to get work done. I also need to get new tires put on a new set of wheels when they are delivered, and probably could use an alignment as well.
Can anyone point me in the right direction of some places to get work done?
Thanks.

People in the Bay Area will point you towards Gruppe-S in Hayward for aftermarket parts, servicing and tuning. Look in the vendor section of this site for their details. Recent threads have shown that if they supply and fit the parts you need then they give a great warranty too.
For Tire mounting and alignment it's hard to go wrong with Auto innovations in Milpitas...the feedback on that place is awesome and the guys there have a huge amount of experience setting up Subarus.
edit. ^^^^ see what I mean?? everybody loves these shops.

I think he is just looking for maintenance, not to hop up his car
Gino from GBmotorsports, Mert @Gruppe-S, Kevin from AutoHQ are "real" mechanics (like OEM trained, > decade experience, worked for dealerships).
Because some of the technicians at these performance shops have little experience, were computer, IT, and other folk who had a passion for cars and decided to start wrenching. I have no doubt they are competent and I trust them for aftermarket installs, but for general OEM automotive and mechanical troubleshooting, I usually want to look for a factory trained mechanic
Think about it, if you wrench at a performance shop that's one thing, if you work in a dealership and random people who abuse/neglect their cars in unthinkable ways bring the cars in for you to fix, that's a whole other level of knowledge/experience.
