I'm a rather new WRX owner and have some questions about maintenance issues. I was hoping I could get a response from some of the local WRX owners.

1). Any opinions about purchasing the Maintenance Plan from Subaru? It's $800 for 3/36,000 at 7,500 mile maintenance intervals. I'd be taking it to Carlsen.

2). I'm right at the point of doing the first oil change. Any opinions about using synthetic oil? Does anyone know how this works if I choose to do the Maintenance Plan? (will they use synthetic?)

3). If I choose not to have Subaru perform maintenance, can anyone recommend a good mechanic that works on WRXs and charges less than Subaru?

i don't know about good mechanics, but i have taken oil with me to the dealer to have them use the synthetic.. they will put in what you give them and not charge you then for their oil...
