Lots of guys on the Ford forums get Mach I's running LOW LOW 13's on street tires. I was impressed as the '03 Cobra with 85 more horsepower doesn't trip the clocks much earlier. As with everything you read on the internet, YMMV.

This is my 1st post, I was told of this thread by a friend of mine.
As an owner of a mach 1, i will start out by saying the two cars are very comprable. I think the sti is an awsum car, and considered buying one unil i saw the pricetag. Bang for the buck i couldnt beat the mach $23,400 out the door. As far as which car is faster, it will come down to driver. The mach is a solid low 13 high 12 second car in stock form. I took mine to the track and bone stock ran a 13.4 @ 105 mph and my clutch isnt in the greatest shape. I have friends that have turned 13.0, 13.2 bone stock. The thing holding the mach back is the stock tires. I have many friends that have dropped in the 12s by changing tires. With just a tire change I went from a 2.2 60ft on stock tires to a 1.8 on nittos. The mach suspension was not designed to be a corner carver, but stock it pulls .86 on the skidpad, and can be easily modded to pull over 1g.

I will bring the mach to an i club meet one of these days, and take you for a ride. I doubt you will have the same opinion of the mach.

It has over 5K in suspension and pulls way over a G, and i have 7 years racing experiance. But when it comes down to it i hate pissing contests, it is very imature and no one ever wins. I do have afriend with a mach that has minor suspension done to it. He is a pro racecar driver, and driving instructor with 20 years experiance. He as a driver can outcorner almost any car in the moutnains. Another guy with a sti thought he could kill him in the corners. There was a wait on the other side for the guy in the sti to catch up. The sti driver was in shock on the cornering of the mach. When it comes down to it the mach didnt beat the Sti the driver did. The mach is built on the same mustang platform they have been using since 1979, and for this reason it has more bolt on suspension products available to it than any other car. Thier is a shop in hayward called Meyer Racing his mustang pulls 1.8 on the skidpad, it all depends on how big your budget is.
