Mac Help
I know this might not be the best place for this, but I'm kind of desperate. I have a Macbook, and admittedly don't know much. It's locked up on me and even when I do a restart by holding the power button down it just goes back to the way it was. Nothing works, mousepad, keyboard, nothing. Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Thanks.

i dont know if this will help but....
i was borrowing my brother MacBook Pro and it froze up on me. i dont know why, nor do i care. all i know is, i went under File and found a "force quit" option, which quits all applications, especially the one freezing up your Mac.
this may help, this may not. just my two shiny red pennies

shift reboot works everytime. I remember the 1800sosapple guy told me to restart, holding down shift, esc, ctrl, r,s,and l or something and it resets like all the prefs on startup...hella cool, can't remember the exact one.

how much RAM is in yours?
I've yet to have any trouble with my macbook since buying it the day they came out. after about 2 weeks I upgraded the RAM to 2GB though.
Make sure to do the EFI updates.

Disconnect all external devices if there are any.
Try to Repair Disk Permissions using the Disk Utility (in the Application/Utilities folder).
Try to reset your PRAM:
1. Shut down the computer.
2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
3. Press the power button to turn the computer on. You will hear the computer’s startup sound.
4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
6. Release the keys.

what does it look like when it "freezes?
What are the circumstances of said freeze?
The safe boot (shift) should work. If it is not you need to get a utilities disk and run a scan. If it's new you should have mac assist. Call them.
