I watched it a few times, he did steer, but he didn't increase the input like most would when there's no reaction.... its clear the front of his suspension was maxed out and possibly airborne by the time he was descending the crest.
This is why you take your first laps on a new track slowly, so you learn it

Look at his hands on the wheel, they're all over the place! and you hardly ever hear him lift, not even after he caught air, its almost like he was TRYING to total that car!
