Lyft - anyone use it? Or is a driver?

Just wondering if anyone has used them before and can relay their experience.

I'm pondering being a driver to see if this can get me in the commute lane, or use it to give me a ride.

I know two people that have used it and still use it occasionally.
They said its decent, sometimes awkward. Kinda depends on who you match up with.

My friend has been a driver for them for over a year. Making decent money, just that they get hated on by cab drivers a lot.

I use it and like it. It's a hell of a lot better than dealing with the cab drivers in SF.

I have been blocked from their Facebook page for asking what type of drug testing their drivers go through and for information on drivers TCP permits/liability insurance.

The Evo Taxi - YouTube
My favorite rally inspired ad ever.

I've watched it dozens of times wishing for a movie/TV show/comedy short of this. And no, that French/Italian/whatever "rally taxi" from the 80's doesn't count.

Driving for or using Lyft is such a bad idea
1st - almost all personal insurance policies specifically exclude use as "for hire" or taxi use.

2nd - easy to get jacked

3rd - Cab drivers and Limo companies tend to be complete scumbags already... just want you want: unregulated, uninsured taxis

I used Lyft a bunch when I was in Seattle in September. No complaints, and some of the drivers were pretty cool.

I use them and also drive for them. About 50 hours a month and I make an extra $3000 a month. Never felt unsafe and I love the passages I have felt with.
