L'Shana Tova BAIC!
I trust that you'll all be going to shul?
I kid.
Seriously though, this is a wonderful blog that I think everyone-Jews and non-Jews alike, should read. It was written by a pretty untraditional Jew and I think many of us can relate to a lot of the sentiments described by the author, Derek Powazek:

In addition to this, I'd like to make a comment on a very personal note. Some of you don't know me at all, while some of you have known me for many years. I know it may seem odd to talk about this on i-club but somehow it feels very appropriate on today of all days. I'd like to say that today is the 6 year anniversary of my brother Rustin's death. Rustin was an amazing brother and a wonderful friend, and I miss him terribly. The pic below is of him as a little kid on vacation.

Happy new year to everyone! Be humble and treat one another kindly. Remember to say I'm sorry, and show appreciation to those you love every day! (strangers too when applicable!
) May you and your families be inscribed in the book of life. Thanks for reading this

I guess its life, right? We lose people; but knowing that somehow doesn't make things easier on days like today. Thanks to you too, Rau-your comment made me tear up a little. Not the one about the monies and envelopes but you know, the other one
I've said it before and I'll say it again, you're friggin' awesome.

And on a Jewishy note, is it officially sundown yet? I seriously can't tell. I'm going to our liberal, hippy reform Judaism gone amok temple tonight at 7...but it should be nice all the same. I'll be bringing my Goy bf along, which should be interesting.
I don't need more cowbell dammit!

Definitely. A friend of mine who lost his brother as well once said it doesn't really get any easier as time goes on, you just think about it less = /

I've had my moments where I'm less into it, so I understand. I always feel really warm and fuzzy after I go, though. Maybe its the whole in-group membership thing, and feeling good because of....(more social psych jargon yada yada yada....) but either way I do like to make an attempt when I can.
