The low profile cutout was in
The QTP low profile cutout went into my 2004 STi earlier today. I haven't been able to pick it up yet but the guys at Goodies were nice enough to send me a photo earlier
My chief concerns with the cutout were
1) Ground Clearance
2) Having the exhaust fumes under the car get into the cabin
I think we've solved both those issues
Will probably paint black to hide it a little better

All Catbacks for GC/GD are are just noisemakers, they don't make any power
I want more sound, but want to be able to cruise on the freeway in peace.
solution: Electric Cutout
with the flip of a switch, I can completely (or partially) bypass the the muffler.

Looks good, never would have imagined the cutout being installed after the catback. I had always imagined it being installed on the downpipe but this placement looks like it would be best of clearance as well as the directing of exhaust gases farther away from the cabin.

you can actually make more power with it if its on the down pipe. I had my car tuned with it closed but, had a run with it open just to see the difference. there was a notable gain. Im sure you could have even more gain if you tuned for it and ran two maps.
then again i really use it more just for wow factor more than anything else

Ah memories. Nothing quite like doing a pull with the cutout open and screaming past some traffic and scaring the crap out of them.
Hopefully the motor on the cutout doesn't fail you and you are able to open and close it at will. I remember my buddies failed and we drove to BAM from Sacramento and back with it open, and Jesus, the headache is unforgettable.

Borla hush.
Seems like the car will just run poorly if you have it tuned and then open a cut out. May sound cool but it's gotta be hurting performance. I'd bet money that the car tuned with a catback would make more power and be a lot more responsive than a car tuned for a stock exhaust with a cutout.
Not gonna lie, i've always considered cutouts janky as hell even on a non turbo car.

Maybe one of the tuners can chime in but Ive read that having the cutout on the DP can give you an additional 10-20 hp if tuned for it whereas having one on the axleback does nothing.
