Looks like Timeout for me!!!

What a terribe day to start my morning, I was on my way to work and as most of you know it was raining preety bad. I come to a stop sign few blocks away from work and some elder guy commin off 280/serramonte decides to speed up to catch the light but doesent realize the light was red for me and I wasnt moving so he panics and slams his brakes and rams right into me.... I'm not too concerned about the damage since we both have insurance but what pissed me off the most was when I went to kaiser to check out my back they had me wait in the waiting room for an hour and a half and all they told me was to take motrin which doesent help me at all, I told the doctor that I was in some serious back pain and that any pressure on my back feels like needles goin in my back and he continues to say you'll be fine just take your motrin and sleep it off!!! any suggestions aside from taking pain releiver pills ???

Also what amazes me is his car took more of the beating than my rear bumper... +1 for subaru bumpers and camera phones !!!!

but your damage maybe more UNDER the the bumper COVER...

tough luck with the back... ERs can suck sometimes. unless you are dying or bleeding out, expect a long wait...

Im shaking my head as I write and feel your pain. I have the same car same color bought new in 2000.Any and every incident that has happened to my car has been the result of other dumbf@#$ and their lack of alertness to their surroundings. Ive had my driver side door crumpled in a hit n run the first month i had my car. I been sideswiped on the passenger side coming off 80 onto University by your everyday California Merger, Ive had my front bumper cracked and headlight demolished in a parking lot hit n run. Past 2 years have been great 4 my car up until last month when my window was smashed and all my sh@# tossed around but nothing stolen, week later some knucklheads spraypaint lines on every car on my block, a week later a stupid Berkeley cyclist barrels into my car as im making a right onto University then rides off leaving my rear 1/4panel all jacked up....at any rate that sucks what happened to ur RS!

your back

Sorry you had such bad luck today. What you need to do is get in to see a GOOD CHIROPRACTOR. Make sure he/she takes some radiographs (x-rays) and puts you on a good treatment plan. You will be feeling good in no time. Your car insurance (if you have med-pay/ personal injury insurance) will pay for the entire treatment. It's really the way to go. Don't go for that painkilller stuff. Your body has pain to tell you something is wrong, just like an oil light in your car. You wouldn't put tape over the oil light ....would you ? Taking painkillers will do the same thing ( mask the problem). Did Kaiser even take any x-rays??? It is standard procedure to take x-rays after a trauma like you had and pain remaining in that area. I hope you follow this advice. If you are in doubt.... consult a good personal injury lawyer for advice. Best of luck to you.

wow, the damage looks serious, but should be repairable without getting a salvage title. Hey, couldnt help but post since its pretty ironic- I remember you were looking for a new silver rear bumper just last week. I got rear ended before this June and it sucks. Better get that back pained properly diagnosed and treated. I have a facet joint inflammation on my spine right now ( its long story) and I have been in and out of some excruciating pain. Well hopefully you'll be alright within a matter of days.

wow

No wonder you feel that much pain! Your car is smacked.

As for pain, don't know how much dose you are taking, but Motrin is nothing more than Advil which is availuable over the counter. If you want something stronger, Vicodin will probably do (gotta get it from doc). But that will knock you out. Shouldn't drive with that since that will be like DUI. Like the previous member said ^^^, those drugs only mask the symptoms and don't fix the problem. But if your pain level is way over your comfort zone, it probably is worth it to take some at this point. I wouldn't take them for a long time though since most pain pills are harmful to your kidneys in a long run - kidney failure.

Non-pharmacologic methods may help like what other said about Chiropractor. At home, may be you could use some hot pads like the one they sale at ride-aid. Cold pack also should help. You could use frozen bean bags for that. Put it on your back until, your back feels numb. Hoepfully, your pain doesn't become chronic. That would be really sucks.

i dont really know how bad kaiser, but lately ive been hearing a lot of horrible stuff about that place.

They gave my manager's dad the wrong medicine and he got really sick

They caused a back injury to the wife of our company's president

& I hear that they are a bunch of slackers that dont really care.

not much experience with back pain, but heated water bag usually helps me muscle or join pains. As for your damage, be very careful. My friend's Audi RS6 just got rear ended as well. The 'exterior' damage looks less than yours and his frame was damaged slightly. Good luck on the car repair and especially your back pain.

Unfortunately, our health care problem has very serious problems. One of them is med errors. It does seemed like Kaiser had made serious mistakes that are very identifiable. But when you do research, all healthcare facilities/organizations make lots of med errors and etc. They just don't go on public that much. It is some thing like several ten-thousands every single year. That is one of the reasons why nurses are fighting to lower nurse-to-patient ratio for years now - which might help them to have safer work-load and staffing level. If such fatalities are resulted from airport, you would see dramatic changes supported by the gov. But for some reasons, healthcare doesn't. So, yeah you should be a smarter consumer of healthcare. You gotta be able to advocate for yourself.

As for original poster, may be you should meet up with your own doc. Looks like you went to ER if I'm not mistaken. Call 1-800 of Kaiser and try to make an appointment with a doc. They usually have better service with an appointment than visiting ER. May be you could bring those accident pics, that way they would know you are not kidding and not a drug seeker.
