I don't know why so many people hate on corvettes, yeah, sure, their exterior designs get aged pretty badly after a while, but you have to respect what those cars can do, and for how good of a price. I'd be fine with a stock Z06, and even that would get me into way too much trouble as it is, let alone a friggin 1000 HP corvette!
How much does a stock Z06 go for nowadays anyway? What about a used one also? It's amazing what you can do to those cars to make them faster then basically ANYTHING on the road, including super cars... The corvette may be an American made V8, but in my eyes it's basically a super car. Lots of people deny the fact that corvettes are super cars, but why? Because they don't have a 12 cylinder engine? Or the fact that they aren't made of carbon fiber? Or maybe because they don't cost $190,000? That's BS... If a car can hang with super cars, or even beat them, it's automatically a super car.
It may be the fact that they are so readily available and everywhere in the states... When I go over seas and visit family in various countries in Europe, they always ask me about two things. One of them being Jack Daniels Whiskey, and the other being the high end corvettes. They don't get that over there so it's automatically something they desire, sort of how we though the JDM WRX was the greatest car on earth before it made its way over to the USA, nobody really makes a big deal about seeing a WRX STi floating around anymore, so perhaps that's the reason people dismiss corvettes so much.
This thread is proof of how amazingly fast a corvette can be, and for a bargain compared to some super cars. Sure, with a super car you get more attention then Britney Spears does at the mall, but you also pay for that attention both off the lot and in service... The corvette allows you to play and not really pay.
In short, what I'm basically saying is, can I have a ride? Please?

How about putting that engine into a subie? Roll the fenders and put on 285's all around, beefy transmission and drive train parts and you have something straight from HELL. Well, screw the twin turbos, just give me a Z06 engine in my subie! No lag, good gas mileage at low RPMs, and stock, yet will still make you cream your pants.
I wonder if that's ever been tried? Two weeks ago at the Zen cafe meet some guy rolled up in an FD RX-7 with a corvette engine under the hood... Man, that thing was SICK!
What's the highest stock HP factory corvette? None of those tuner built cars, just the factory built cars. What model and how much HP/FT-LBS does it have?
