It's legal to have a in dash monitor, however, it must have a wire tapped into the parking brake, and the parking brake must be on in order to view any moving images. Of course, this wire just needs to be grounded. Anybody can easly change this.

dwnshft, If you are an authorised Excelon dealer, go for it. If not, let me know, I can give you a good price through my store. It must be picked up in person and paid for in person in order for it to happen. For those who want a Kenwood dbl din monitor or the Eclipse monitor let me know. I can give a i-club discount from retail on this unit. It retails for 1399.99. I can go 1050.00. There is only a 30 point margin on Kenwood head units across the board. So do the math from retail and you will see the cost. Plus, if you purchase from a legit Excelon dealer, you will get the full warranty too. So if you want one, call me at the shop 707-546-8585 or stop by 2450 Santa Rosa Ave in Santa Rosa and I can talk to you in person.

At the moment, I only ordered in the one unit I have in the dash now. I wanted to check it out before I shelf them. They are expensive and I don't have the purchasing buget to stock them deap. I'd prefer to order them in as needed. The single din units are usualy back stocked one to show and one to go. Single din units have not shipped yet. The double din is a new trend for monitors and I need to test the market for desire before I order deep. Plus, they shipped before the single din units.

Here is a nice tid bit of info for ya... It doesn't require a hide away unit like the single din units. Now that's cool.

dwnshft,

You shoudl be able to view a video and listen to any other source except for the dvd/cd slot source. A music keg, cd changer, satelite radio tuner etc can be listened to at the same time the monitor plays the video image. Most, if not all Kenwood monitors will do this. It mainly for dual zone programming for rear seat entertianment. It's all in the set up. It's a very nice deck for playing MP3s I found. you can scorll down the list of songs that appears on the screen. I'd imaging that the best way to interface with this for MP3 playback would be to use the 20 gig add on music keg option.

Ya gotta pay your tax. Somebody has to do it.... You may have access to get one. Best Buy isn't an Excelon dealer, but the price I quoted to you and other iclubbers is a good one. I am gonna drive my car to the shop on Saturday, but I have to take off early on Saturday at 3 for my wifes B-day party. So if you all want to check it out in person, come by on Saturday before 3 pm.
