Yea seriously. It's one thing if they're gonna just put out another program to animate with but if they want to make their own programming language for it too thats gonna be funny. I already spent a whole quarter learning actionscript 2. Now that actionscript 3 is out and people are getting into it I don't think anyone's gonna want to revert to something else... especially the multimedia teachers who would have to learn it themselves.

IIRC, silverlight is based on... drumroll please... .net.

so anyone who's .net'ing will be able to use SL with no issues.

flash people shouldnt think about jumping ship unless their dev house is turning to .net.

my warning to adobe though. remember what happened to netscate when they sat on their asses and watched MS slowing but surely capture the browser market while their heads got big. and did nothing to stop it.

Actionscript is the bane of my existence. I hate programming sh*t in the first place. I just design stuff and do the graphics. =l

Stop();
on (release) {
gotoAndPlay ("fail");
}
//I hate actionscript

Haha, that's why there should be "web design teams", not "graphic designers who need to know how program HTML, DHTML, AJAX, Javascript, PHP, CSS, and Actionscript is a bonus, plus the kitchen sink." Those job postings depress the hell out of me.

Word

The more you know the more employable you are. Combine that with a BA in Marketing and your set.

SAME EXACT THING HERE!

I couldn't design a rock, but I could program it to do anything you want.

Yeh, I remember the day I finally set my eyes on a web design degree, I felt I had accomplished so much, and was in store for so much more. I came home and told my mom who also had her friend there. Turns out both her sons were getting a degree in web design. My cousin told my mom he was also getting a degree in web design about a month before, I told my best friend, who told me his other friend was getting the same thing. I then decided I wasn't going to be doing that.
