Thumbs up lol... my 5 y/o OEM batt in the STi is finally dead...

had a hard time starting it this morning. noticed that the shift light was "off" so when i finally arrived at work, i reset the light.

tried to start the car and just CLICK, CLICK...

i think i got good use with just a bit over 5 years on it...

No problems with mine, even though it is getting old too. If I don't drive for a while, I use a trickle charger just to be safe. That and not spending too much unnecessary time using power from the battery only.

nah...

the optima is bigger and heavier.

the 6v versions are just 3 of 6 "cells" of the 12v versions. but then again, you need 2 of them... lol...

btw, the OEM panasonics... are they maintenance free? or can i fill up them with distilled water?????

Just did some searches - The Optima Red Top looks good for a daily driver, very good CA and CCA.

Yeah, the red tops are good. I've got one in my big ol' truck, which takes a lot of starting juice since it runs a carbureted 390. As long as it is charged up, it always has plenty of power. 1000 CCAs, I think.

Interstate green top...good middle of the road battery that won't kill the pocket book

*OEM batteries die at 61 months like clock work...ha ha I notice this all the time here at work, they have those things down to take a dump right on time...just outside of warranty

well i got my 04 around july of 2003...

so... that's like 63 months, plus 1 or 2 more when it was made/assembled in japan...

lol...


went to a local autozone and bought their mid level batt for $80.

starter now starts like a charm.
