Congrats man. I know it's hard to teach pets how to go in the proper places. Friend has a dog for almost a year and he still poops and pees everywhere.

Now all you need to do is to teach him how to wipe

my girlfriend's cat does the same thing.
They see us do it... I guess that's why they're called "copy cats".

You can train cats to flush. Often what is done is to put a weight on the toiler handle that almost flushes, and then a tantilizing toy. The problem is, it often becomes a game and there goes your water bill and flushes through the night as the notcurnal beasts play their games.

How to train them?

1 - (can be skipped if you have smarter than avg cats) put the litter box next to the toilet and over a period of days or weeks raise it to the height of the bowl. Then keep it ontop of the bowl

2 - using varying device, sitz bath, roasting pan, mixing bowl, put the container in the toilet bowl with litter it. work it like a litter box.

3a - slowly remove litter until the cat will go w/o litter, then start adding water

or

3b - cut larger and larger holes in the container until its an open chute

Its more detailed... and more aggrivating than that, but its the general idea. It also help to have a cat that isn't too scared of water. Ricky will drop these human sized depth-chargers into the toilet, the water will sometimes splash up and hit his *** and he always turns around in complete surprise, like, "Who did that?!?!" Be he keeps pumpin'em out

You try and take a crap standing on a 3cm-wide perch

Actually they stand on the seat. For cleanliness' sake we're thinking of putting a secondary cover/seat on that we can put up for when I read and reply on I-club... er I mean sit down w/ my wireless laptop and take poop
