Light Graffiti - New form of Graffiti using light and long exposure shots
Using cameras with long exposure settings and various types of portable lights to create something really beautiful. I didn't even know that people made this into such a cool form of art until a couple days ago when someone from this forum posted about it, and since I've researched it and have been taken back at some of the amazing pieces! In case you've never tried doing this, it's friggin HARD! Everything is backwards and you can't see what you're writing, and you have to do it FAST in order to not appear in the picture. Try it sometime, your art will look better with the more practice you get. I have a good 3 hours of practice time in and I've gotten a lot better from the first time I did it. It's cheap, and fun!
This one looks really crazy because of the red blinking lights that create that dotted pattern!
I've always been a huge fan of graffiti art (not talking about lame *** tagging where people scribble stuff that looks awful), some of the graffiti artists out there can blow your mind with the pieces that they create. I love how abstract the stuff is, so much order to such chaos, it's def one of my fav art forms, which is why I think it's new form using lights on long exposure shots on film and digital cameras! What a great concept and done really well. This is a very new form of art (compared to how old other forms of art are) so it's growing and you can expect to see some amazing stuff in the future.
EDIT: None of these pictures were done by me, just wanted to make that clear, I only wish I had skills like that!

They are pretty imaginative, except the last one looks like scrawl, haha.
I think I'm gonna try it, but I need to find some interesting light sources...hmmm asynchronous flash...colors...strobe?
Very cool, thanks...

Lights are your paint brushes in this art form, so if you want intense lines with extra exposure, use bright lights, and for darker lines, dimmer lights should be used. Also, different widths and patterns also create all sorts of cool looks. The reason I posted that last pic was due to the red dotted line which I thought was really cool, the picture itself is by far the worst of them all, but shows a good example of different lights.
There are mini LED lights you can buy for cheap that have variable light settings including strobe which would give you a dotted line. I have a few, from green, red, blue, and white. Only the white and blue ones have the strobe feature though. I can't remember who makes them, I think it's Inova or something... Kinda pricey though, Im sure you can get really cheap chinese knock offs that work just as well for this type of thing (where you dont need to rely on a flashlight for survival or anything)

Yeah, I made a note in the photography thread that I want to get a photography meet together to do some of this.
And also, if this thread belongs in BAIC instead of Photography/Photoshop, please move out "BAIC Photographers" thread back to BAIC too. Consistency...

These would be awesome for this. They are available at Lowe's or Target. Flashlight, glow stick, strobe combo.
