Lift Springs for forester on an 02 WRX?
I have a friend who is looking to get a few extra inches of clearence.
He has brand new KYB AGX struts for an 02 WRX sedan(not even installed yet) and I am wondering if anyone (hint, LIC, hint!) knows if 93-01 impreza/98-05 forester tophats are the same as the 02/03 WRX tophats.
So far all I have found is people getting stock forester take-offs (strut/spring&hat) and putting them in the impreza.
I am curious if the scorpian lift springs will fit on the impreza strut or not.

Any input is much appreciated!
Btw for the news wondering, this car is 1/2 off road and 1/2 street driven hence the quest for an inch or two of lift, better dampening and less travel.

I am going to assume the guy is going to put larger tires on as well. Clearance is based off of tire size only. suspension does not change the clearance of the vehicle.
adding any sort of left or height by means of the suspension is only to gain space for larger tires.

Sorry Ryan you are wrong,
The swing arms pivot from a point, so that longer struts will raise the center of the car where if I'm not mistaken, the exhaust system is the lowest point.
Everything inboard of the wheels benifits, the closer to the middle the more clearance is brought by extending the struts.
Look at how WRC cars are set up for events like Acropolis and Cyprus compared to smooth events.
It isn't that way just for larger tires.

For clarification of psopers post, heres a pic of a Forester strut vs. an Impreza strut:

The 1" gap between the spring perch and point where the strut attaches to the hub = 1" more ground clearance.
As for the Scorpion springs, i've never seen them used on a WRX sedan, but you also have the option of using adjustable coilovers for the struts (ground controls) instead of the scorpions in order to get some extra clearance.

So to really get any more lift he'll need to get forester spec struts and either King or Scorpian springs.
Anyone know about the tophats? Are the tophats the same?
