Life in Pacifica?

Thinking about moving to Pacifica from the south bay. What's it like living there? I keep hearing about the fog but it can't be foggy every day of the year right? How are the neighborhoods and the residents?

LOL Can't be foggy on the coast every day? Been to Half Moon Bay? It might get decent sun a few weeks out of the year.

I live in Pacifica and it depends where you live. I live in the back of the valley by terra nova high school. It's not foggy here during the day. On te coast or up in the hills it's foggy. That being said the last two days have been sunny everywhere. GREAT place to live. Everyone is nice, it's a blue collar town where most people just work hard. I would highly recommend it.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Is the area walkable and are there restaurants or common areas that people congregate at? I know it isn't a big city like San Francisco and won't have that type of night life but just curious about the general population there (older folks? young professionals?).

There are a few good places to eat by lindamar beach, and there's a new Place just opened up by the bowling alley near rockaeay beach. General population consist of families, not a huge population in their 20's since there's no college but it's not empty either. Lots of trails for biking or hiking. Not easy to 'walk' around town cuz its divided by highway 1 so most people drive or ride bikes.

I wouldn't do it. I'd be too depressed.
San Mateo would be my pick. Nice downtown, walkable. 800% more sun than Pacifica.

Have some friends who live in Pacifica and I like it. For where it is, small town kind of scene compared to most of the bay area even though it is so close to SF. So you can have your small town and your SF too

I like Rockaway beach too. At least one or two good restaurants there (or at least there used to be) haven't been there in a while.

I've lived there for a sum of 30+ years, and I love it. That said I live on the southern end of town by "Terra Nova HS" as was mentioned above by SubbieMedic. Weather wise, this part of town is much nicer as the fog tends to burn off. That said, it is no San Mateo, Burlingame weather. It is a fairly quite town, and is just chill not a ton of drama like some of the bigger cities.

Super close to SF, the airport, malls, etc.

+1 for me.

THE best taco bell in the world, lol!!!
I grew up in San Mateo and then moved to Pacifica. If you like the beach and sf go Pacifica, if you want a mediocre downtown over no downtown at all, go San Mateo.
