Ah em...........first off how do you complain about your parents buying you a brand new carrrrr? Trust me buddy, I worked my *** off for my baby, and for you to complain like that........well buddy you have no right. I aint you daddy, (trust me i dont want to be) but dont you ever, and i meaaaaaaan ever complain about free ****. If its simple as candy to a brand new freaking car, you appreciate it what you get, rather then just going around crying and sighing say "daym i wish i had that 330, or sti" If your a new car you should smile and say thanks mom, thanks dad. Thanks for buying me a car and spoiling me, rather than i have to go out and work for it. Thanks for telling me what the true value of a dollar is.......oh wait i dont kno it, cuz your going to buy me everything.......This has not made my day, no.....im sad people, I hope people like you go on the montel show and get help! WOW!! It is amazing that this many people got cars when they were 16! I didn't have a car until I was 18. I was that person you saw riding their bike to school everyday (even as a senior). I worked for everything I had. But hey, if you get one, then more power to you then!! And don't insult the Acura CL-S! A 2003 with a six speed will kick all our asses and they are tuneable. Friend of mind has one with some Comptech stuff done to it and it is very fast.

 

F**KIN brats need to grow up i dont know how old anybody is here,but some people have familys and a mortage no wife or kids myself,but others things need payin for.So grow YOUR NUTS into BALLZ and be thankfull your mom will buy you a new car.When some of you people get bigger bills than a pathetic car payment you will thank your parents for the nice car they got you.

 

Yeah, but i rather not have them get me the type s. I dont want them to waste THAT much money on a car, when i dont like it. If they're goin to spend that much money, might as well be something u like. If not, i rather work my *** off.

Although i do blue collar work for my dad & uncle all summer every summer since i was less than 10. You think working fast food and krap all summer and weekends is bad, try unloading literally tons of cement and wood by yourself(80 pound bags ofcement at a time). Plowing the old fashioned way with a hoe and shovel. Unloading a truckfull of Sod(farmed pregrown grass) by myself AFTER i lay down the soil AFTER the hoeing and shoveling and leveling the soil. It's all backbreaking work, but im not complaining because my dad and uncle do it all the time. Sometimes even during saturdays. But those are like twice a week. Weekdays they mow and trim. I always end up doing the mowing and leafblowing. That iincludes loading and unloading a 200+ pound mowing machine about 40 times a day, and carrying a 60 pound leafblower on your back for 10 minutes each time, 20 times a day. WOrking from 7-5. So dont tell me i dont know hard work. I wish i could get a TEENAGER job. It's not that easy to do those kinds of jobs when i have the previous things to do. IF you dont believe that i go throught that kind of work. Ask any vietnamese family that works as gardeners/landscapers/contractors. AND i dont get paid. Some vietnamese families have differnt attitudes. SOme say " im suffering through this work for them, i dotn want them to feel ths pain." BUt mines say " let him do the work to appreciate the work." and trust me. I sure do appreciate it. If you don't think the work ive done throughout my life is AMPLE to buy any car, then skrew u. I haven't had time for working teenage jobs. I COULD'VE gotten a job, but i wouldnt have time for the gardening work, and just THINKIN about doing all that work in places like pleasanton and stuff during the summer, it's not fair to work an easy job JUST to get paid instead of helping the family out.

I dont complain. I just rather not spend a junkload of money on a car i dont like that much. ANd no, i wouldnt buy a new car. THey'd be used of course. You lose like what? 15 percent of the car's initial value after you drive it off the lot??? That hardearned money gone to waste, isn't worth it. If you did that kind of work, you'd feel ****ty too if your parents bought you a 32 thousand dollar car and you dont like it. Sorry, i just cant appreciate the cl yet. I'd much rather have an old 280zx and fix it up myself than a CL. But some asian families have that weird contest going. My son does this, and so i buy him this BMW. Blah blah blah..... u know the drill. The only reason they dont like the wrx is because it isnt LUXURIOS and FLASHY like a bmw, lexus, acura. And my other family thinks its ugly as hek and tell me to buy the previous cars. Luxury is last on my list. First on my list is to spend like 7 thousand or something, then the wrx. But on my parents list, used LUXURY, then used WRX, then old used car. You can kind of say that im tryin to meet them halfway.

Personally, im opting for the 4th option, none, if i can. Asian parents are pushy, They dont want to be gossiped about. "oh, his son is sucha good kid, but they're too stingy to buy a good car for him". Yeah, you'd think after thousands of years, chinese/chinese descendants would grow up. But they still play that contest. Well, at least mine aren't as bad as many others. Who buy tons of jewelry and stuff. Mine care bout houses and then cars.

Anyways, if you guys don't think i worked my **** off, then that's your opinion. Don't thikn i wont appreciate anything else at all. I just rather spend less money because the CL to me, i rather get a 7 thousand dollar car and fix it up myself.

 

It's just that, you know how if you get a car that you like so much, you'll baby it and take care of it SO much. But if you get a car you don't really like, you don't take care of it as tightly as you would with the car you love.

You can't really help it. If you don't like it, you just don't take as much care of a responsibility that you dont like. And that'd be a waste of a lot of money to get a good car and not take care of it. That's a good reason i rather get a 7 thousand dollar car or less than get an expensive one i dont like much. Sure, people will gawk at the car and say you have a nice car and whatnot, but i dont care what people think or like. I care about what i like.

And i definitely wouldn't go as far as buying an STI. That's too much. But hey, everyone has a dream.

 

Funny, being part from a Japanese family, I get more respect from the Subaru than my Toyota (probably cause they don't know that it's only NA in the US). My mother actually has some hatred for Hondas (don't know why), but she would never own, or want me to own a Honda or Accura.

When I go to Japan, my uncle makes fun of Lexus and says how we only have the low end Japanes cars here (he used to drive a Crown, now has Mercedes).

BTW, my frist car was a 1969 Cadillac Coup De Ville. I paid $1000 for it and spent another $500 and two weekends to get it running really well.

 

I'm part of an Asian family, too. You really have three choices:

1. Take whatever your parents will "give" you.

2. Take whatever car they will "give" you. Then when you have enough money (your own money), trade it in and buy what you want.

2. Take your own money and buy what you want. This may be difficult if you are short on funds or live with your parent. Remember as long as you live under their "roof", go to choice #1.
